50+ Mother's Day Crochet Gift Ideas!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re looking to create something personal, meaningful, and useful to gift to the Mothers in your life this year, what’s better than a handmade crochet project? I truly think a personalized, handcrafted crochet gift is just about the most thoughtful and heartfelt thing you could give someone- which is why a unique crochet item makes the perfect Mother’s Day gift!

In the United States, Mother’s Day is on May 11th this year. I tried my best to get this video out about a month in advance since crochet projects take time! I would give myself at least a month to make a crochet blanket and it is always good to give yourself more time than you think you might need so you can enjoy the process of crocheting a gift for someone, instead of feeling rushed or like a terrible person if you don’t have it done on time. (been there lol!)

Whether you’re a seasoned crocheter or are just picking up crochet, this list of gift ideas is packed with inspiration for all levels. These 50+ crochet gift ideas span across several categories including: Crochet flower bouquets, Wearables, Pillows, Crochet Blankets, For the Kitchen, Crochet organizers/Jewelry organizers, and For the Bookworm Mom.

In my Youtube video, I talk through each category and include examples that stood out to me as I compiled this list. If you are interested in crocheting anything that I share in the video, you can find links to everything I mentioned below! You can also check out my Pinterest board of every idea I mentioned in the video to see any of the original photos (all the photos you see below are not my own!!). I did my best to include the exact pattern/tutorial links, however, some of the pictures I show in the video do not have a pattern to go along with it. In those cases, I’ve linked similar patterns or left other info/resources to help you make the item instead!

I think it is important to note: I did not come up with any of these ideas on my own, I have simply compiled a list of other creators’ work that I find inspiring- so please go check out their patterns and support their work!

Let’s get into it!

Crochet Flower Bouquets

Flowers are a go-to for Mother’s Day, so why not give them a unique twist this year?

I must confess, crochet flowers are not exactly my cup of tea. I tend to find them a bit tacky which I hate saying because I don’t mean to offend any other artists that make crochet flowers!!

Although I understand how crochet flowers make a great gift, I am not that type of gift-giver. I prefer to give people practical gifts that will improve their life in some way or will be used regularly. Also, personally, I know my Mom. And, although she would treasure and appreciate anything I made for her, she doesn’t need more things. I’d hate to give her something that she feels like she can’t throw away, but doesn’t really want to keep in 5 years.

With that said, I have included some crochet flower ideas that I find super impressive. I think the ones below are so well-done and would make a great gift. Especially because they are so realistic and could be displayed as decor for years to come.

Unfortunately, most of the suggestions I’ve included are finished products listed on Etsy or elsewhere; not patterns to create the bouquet yourself. For that reason, I have also included a link to a pattern for crochet flowers that you could reference to recreate any of these bouquets yourself.

Wearables

This category is broken down even further into multiple sub-categories to include all types of wearable items from vests to bags and earrings! If your mom loves fashion or simply appreciates a one of a kind handmade piece, a wearable crochet gift is the perfect choice! These items could take a bit of time to complete, so you may want to get started as soon as possible depending on your experience level with crochet.

Crochet Blanket & Pillow Ideas:

I love gifting crochet pillows and blankets to loved ones. I think it is so cool how timeless a crochet pillow or blanket can be. I still have one that my Great Grandma crocheted! And one of my friends has a throw blanket that her grandma made her when she was little!

Blankets especially are so special and can stand the test of time (as they should, since they take so long to make!).

I’ve included my most favorite pillow and blanket ideas below that I think anyone would be honored to receive as a gift. Again, you may need to get started on this project right away, depending on how fast you crochet. Just know it will be worth it in the end!!
